Detours & delays on the journey...

Most delays & detours on the journey to our destination are because of our own self-imposed road blocks. We know we heard God in our spirit give us direction in an area of our life, but we reason how impossible it  would be to carry out by saying things like..."what if I don't have enough, it's not possible, no way can that happen, I might miss God, people will think I'm crazy" & so on. God doesn't expect us to figure out what He's asked us to do-He wants us to rely on Him for the provisions needed...then while we're moving forward in faith He provides what we need & directs our next step. Then we start the process over again & again & again-walking by faith not by sight. So move forward in His confidence, get comfortable in trusting & believing He will provide all you need during the journey while on the way to your destination. (Pr 3:5-6, 2 Cor 5:7) 12/2012CIFL-LMM

Those who look to God are radiant...

God can handle any situation you're up against...

A situation can consume, overwhelm & paralyze you for a period of time...but it doesn't determine your destiny-God does. God can handle any situation you're up against...it's never too late for Him to intervene-He owns time. I've listened to many people over the years tell me situations... lost virginity at 13 years old, learning disability, job stress, can't read, married four times, three abortions, no money, chronic illness, DUIs, no education, depression, no job skills, high interest rates, abused by parents, anxiety, below average, no friends, job market froze, numerous affairs, Aspergers, speech impediment, drug use, obesity, eating disorder, jail & prison time, etc. God's not intimidated by any of these situations-one touch of his hand...give it to Him. He's for you, there's no, nada, none, nothing bigger than our God-don't allow the situation you're in to rob you of the plans God has for you! Will you give God the situation you're in so you can move forward in the destiny He's planned for you? (Rom 8:28, 31, Ps 24:1, Jer 29:11) 1/21/13CIFL/LMM

Guard your heart...

Don't let discouragement bring you down...

Discouragement wants you to believe the trials you're going through right now are just a way of life. This is a partial truth-trials are an ongoing part of life. But discouragement omitted the rest of the truth...no trial is wasted in the hands of God! If you're seeking God the best you know how, He's working behind the scenes. The things intended to cause harm-God's using for good (Gen 50:20)! So hold on friend-your faith is being tested which develops your perseverance. Faith & perseverance work in tandem to strengthen your spiritual muscles-making you mature & ready for the next season God will take you in (James 1:2-4). Keep your eyes on Jesus-don't let discouragement bring you down...God's using these trials to lift you up! Tell discouragement so long-you have no time to entertain his partial lies. Your best isn't enough, but God will always meet you at the end of your best-if you rely on Him. Where your strength ends...His begins. His grace is sufficient for you-His power is made perfect...in your weakness. What's overwhelming you...a job that's taking all your energy, parenting taking a toll on your emotions, an issue in your marriage, feelings of uncertainty regarding the course of your life, grief so heavy it weighs you down daily, figuring out how you will get through school & manage your family & on & on. None of your weaknesses surprise God-you're not experiencing anything that He can't handle, but you must release your weaknesses to the hands of God. His power is made perfect...in your weakness. Where your strength ends...His begins. Will you let Him continue the good works He started in you long ago? Will you accept the grace God offers you with every breath He gives you? Listen closely...what you can't do has nothing to do with what God will do through you. It's not your strength that makes things happen...it's God's strength working through you. Apart from Him you can do nothing, but when you give all of yourself to Him, then you can be used by Him. You're delaying your destiny-the dreams God put in you to carry out His plans when you focus on what you can't do. Don't let your can't get in the way of God's can! You can't-He can & He will...when you focus on Him & not you. Are you ready to lift your head & stop looking at you & look into the face of the Father Who knitted you together? Don't you know He uniquely designed you for the works He planned long ago-you are His masterpiece! The day you accepted Christ, you were saved…but your issues weren't. There's one common theme you have with every living person in this world...if you're breathing-you have issues. No breathing person is exempt from issues- that includes all Christians. God isn't shocked by you. Listen closely-what you can't do has nothing to do with...what God will do through you. He's looking for faithful people who believe in His power over man's wisdom! Issues have never stopped God from working through people, but...people have. God will bring to completion the good work He started in you-if you will let Him. Give yourself away-let God have all of you. If you're waiting for your issues to be resolved before you move forward & begin the season God's calling you to-you'll be waiting until the day you go to Heaven. Trust in God with all your heart, don't lean on your own understanding-in all your ways acknowledge Him & He will make your path straight. God will correct your issues along the way-don't resist correction or feel like you're a bad child. God corrects those He loves-correction makes you right…not wrong. Will you accept yourself as God accepts you? God's not shocked by what you can't do…so why are you? Will you let God perfect His power in your weaknesses? When you feel desperate...

You're feeling desperate…because you're losing perspective-desperation is anchored in fear. Fear is from the enemy; he attacks your thoughts to create distortions & oppose God's truth. When this happens your perspective skews your view of the truth & your thoughts get distorted. Your perception is reality… what you perceive is what you believe. When this happens, you feel kind of crazy because you know God's Word, but you also feel so hopeless. You feel bad for feeling hopeless, because you say you should know…then guilt floods you. You're trapped inside your own head!!! The enemy has you right where he wants you-desperate, confused & guilty. A mind focused on emotions leads to death…a mind focused on the Spirit leads to life & peace. Where the Spirit of the Lord is-there is freedom. Don't settle-you feel it's impossible to turn your mind around & it is…but nothing is impossible for God! Apart from Him you can do nothing…but you can do all things when He strengthens you! He will strengthen you to His truth-His power is perfected in your weakness. Your feelings will change, your thoughts will get distorted & your hope will fail at times, but your Father God will never change, His Word is truth & most of all…He will never fail you! Let His truth set you free. Don't let desperation derail you-God will finish the good work He started in you until the day Jesus Christ returns. Buckle up baby...Jesus drives really fast!

Buckle up baby…Jesus drives really fast! Jesus pulled up to my office one day & said, "come on, we're going for a ride." I said, "excuse me Lord, I've a lot of work to do, can this wait?" Jesus wanted to mess with my nice, neat & planned life. I felt I'd done my spiritual & emotional work-I'd let go of my guilt, hurt & anger, forgiven those I needed & believed & confessed God's Word, but I was not taking any risks in the name of Jesus. I loved Him, but wasn't living a life totally committed to Him-I was very safe, orderly & predictable. These are good things unless you hide behind them. 

God had put some big dreams in my heart but I dismissed them as my imagination-I'd entertain them for awhile & shelf them. Then Jesus pressed me on what I really believed...how do you know God will do the impossible unless you stand back & trust Him to? How do you know He uses foolish & weak things to confound the wise, unless you're willing to look foolish & weak? How do you know the bold courage of the Holy Spirit flowing through you, unless you're willing to do bold & courageous things? God's relentless love wouldn't allow me to settle-He confronted me...did I really love Him like I said, was I allowing Him to work through me to make an impact, was I more concerned about messing up & maybe missing Him more than having a heart to follow Him & would I choose safe over taking a risk in the name of love for Him? 

Well, I got in with Jesus that day-I want to know & be known by Him intimately. Jesus said, "anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing & even greater things than these." Will you lay down who you think you should be…so God can lead you into who He made you to be? Wake up sleeper, lift your head, come out from behind your busy schedule, fears & lies you've believed for years, it's not about your ability-it's about your availability to serve as God has called & equipped you to. You can't reach your destination without Jesus! Get in with Him-He knows the way, but get ready when you do & buckle up baby...because Jesus drives really fast!!! I'm thankful Jesus sees past my past...He focuses on my future. I'm not perfect, but I know His love approves me! His grace enables me to press on & be hopeful despite past mistakes, present problems & future trials. The truth will set you free...if you let it

The truth will set you free…but you have to know & believe it. The issues you continue to ignore keep you from moving forward & fulfilling the desires God's placed in your heart. You're dissatisfied, borderline angry & silently bitter about your life-nothing will change until you decide to change the way you live it. Stop pretending to be okay, speaking Christianese & going through the motions of looking right. Only Jesus can make you right…you can't do anything apart from Him. You're still going to mess up…but that doesn't make you a mess up. Release your pride, let go of the denial you've been packing around for years-the Holy Spirit will help you…if you let Him. Face the truth-stop blaming situations & others for the reasons why you're not doing what God's put in your heart. Situations or people have never stopped God from carrying out His plans...you're the only one in the way of God doing what He wants to do through you. Until you accept the grace He offers you every day-you won't be able to do what He asks of you. God's not given up on you…stop acting like He has! God will complete what He started in you-this is a truth…not something for you to ponder, debate or speculate on. God's truth exposes denial-expect to be uncomfortable…the truth hurts-it also sets you free to walk out the destiny God's planned for you! Love in the church...yes, no, maybe???

Love in the church...yes, no, maybe??? Many have an unrealistic expectation that they will not be hurt in the church. Anywhere you find people, you will find hurt people & hurt people...hurt people. Hurt people are in the church & they will inevitably hurt you. Often the hurt received is not the hurt that was imposed. You see, all of us are hurt people & we will hurt people. But thank God, He's on top of this issue, because we are God's people & He knows all about our hurt & He promises to bring us through each one! His Word is our confidence to work through hurt. 

I'm thankful for the genuine love I receive from my church family-doing life together...it's real! Nothing is perfect, because we are a bunch of hurt people needing the grace & truth of a Savior! But we can sure count on our Savior to save us from hurt...especially our own self-imposed hurt when we put our hope in anything but Jesus Christ our Savior! 

I've offended others & others have offended me, but with God's love, I've been redeemed from the hurt I've imposed on others & I embrace the forgiveness God gives me to extend to others. Anywhere you find people- you will find hurt people-especially in the church! But dear God don't let this keep us from loving one another in the church! God's ways work...when we work them His way! I'm thankful for God's love reaching through others to love me & His love in me reaching to them. Yes...love is in the church! Despair...God's hope can pull you out

Most despair in life is a result of not seeing a human solution to trials; you feel trapped because...you are. Run into the arms of Jesus-He will give you His hope & give you relief... during the reality of despair. God's hope is full of power...it raised Jesus from the dead & it can pull you out from under the despair you're facing! Receive God's hope, renew your mind with His truth & He will open the eyes of your heart so you can see! His power is available to all those who believe in Him...do you believe? Relationship boundaries...

Relationship Boundaries-a healthy relationship keeps balance. Coming together doesn't mean you leave who you are behind to join the new relationship, forget the former people who loved you before you fell in love or trade out your interests in lieu of loving this new person. These are red flags that will lead to disaster later on. Value yourself enough to keep your relationship before the Lord-asking Him if this relationship is being led by Him. God planned your future-don't forfeit it. Talk with mature friends who aren't afraid to speak God's truth to you in love-then take it to heart. Finally, seek a spirit filled Christian Counselor who can encourage & challenge you to be the person God's called you to be-they will explain patterns & help you connect the dots. We see an end...God sees a beginning!

We see an end...God sees a beginning! God's eyes sweep to and fro searching for those who need and believe in Him- desiring the security of His love- wanting to do life with Him. God wants us to run to Him and rest in Him like a child who realizes they've wandered too far. When the child sees their parent- they run to them and the parent scoops them up- hugging them tightly and reassuring them that they are safe. We wander off in our self sufficiency when we try to fix things-meditating more on what we see than what God sees. We see a closed door-He sees an opened door, we see death-He sees life, we see no way-He sees His way. When we see life without His provisions...we've wandered too far-we need to quickly run to Him and rest in Him-His provisions. We're to meditate on His Word day and night, careful to do everything written in it-not allowing it to depart from our mouth-then we will be prosperous and successful. Whatever God asks us to do-He equips us to do. He supplies His sufficiency-we're to meditate on what He says...day and night; He always meets us where we are in our understanding. Be deliberate in meditating on the Word, but know the enemy's bait- one tiny shift, a single thought and you can see disaster...but as quickly as you see disaster-you must choose to believe God's provisions. The key is "quickly and consistently" run back to God's truth in your mind. You don't have to know how God will provide-to believe...He will provide. The enemy wants you to focus on how God will provide-he baits you with questions...how do you think God will make this happen, do you think He wants you to initiate the process, so what's your game plan? Know the bait he lures you with. Run to God and rest in Him...every situation you see as an end-God sees as a beginning. Meditate on His Word day and night, don't let it depart from your mouth, know God must empower you to do what He asks of you-then you will be prosperous and successful. Don't give up...discouragement is a liar!

Don't give up...discouragement is a liar! It wants to talk you out of the good plans God has for you by creating "what ifs" in your mind, the undesired situations-the things you can't control. Anxious thoughts get up with you in the morning-taking shape & form inside your mind-before you know it, you've already lived weeks in a bad situation & you're still standing at your kitchen counter drinking a cup of coffee. Entertaining the potential "what ifs" deafens your ability to hear the Holy Spirit-He's trying to give you direction & comfort, but you can't hear Him for the blaring noise of "what ifs." Immediately stop these thoughts with God's truths-renew your mind with His Word...God's peace guards my mind & heart, He has good plans for me, I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me, I am complete in Christ, where the Spirit of the Lord is-there is freedom. These aren't just words-they are God's Words; His promises stand forever & they are power! Why will block you seeing Who is with you...

Save your mind grief...

Save your mind grief...set your mind in advance to believe God will provide for you in every trial. When you do, you've make a bridge that will walk you out of every trial….the bridge is named...Jesus! With Jesus you can do all things-He will give you the strength to get through every trial. This mindset keeps you focused on Jesus instead of the desperation that wants to drown you. You acknowledge the reality of the trial you're facing...because it's real, but you don't take on the burden of trying to resolve it-because you can't. It's a job for Jesus, your part is to believe He will make a way. Tell Jesus your fears-He will comfort you. Most trials require you to walk into the fire & to stand on what you say you believe. This is the testing of your faith-it develops your perseverance which equips you to overcome…there's no other way to develop perseverance. Nobody wants to walk in the fire, but after they do, they know Jesus more than before they went in. They know what they believe-His Word is true & He will never fail them & no devil in hell can ever steal the truth from them! Each trial brings greater revelation of God's love-the security that no matter what you face...God will make a way. Will you save your mind grief…will you let Jesus be your bridge? Dragging your bondage out of the dark & into the presence of Jesus...is the beginning of its death & the ending of its hold on you. Then you will know the truth & the truth will set you free! (John 8:32)

Be defined...

Define yourself...give every part of you to Jesus-don't dismiss anything. He's the Master of making nothing into something. He will do greater than you dare ask or imagine..ginormous dreams! Embracing the power of Jesus within you requires you to give all of you to Him...holding nothing back. What you keep from Him-confines you...what you give to Him-defines you! Know the truth...be set free!

God's promises are available to anyone who believes in Him-He doesn't discriminate. Each person that invites Jesus to live in them has access to His power flowing through them. Many Christians become very confused when they consider whether or not they believe all of God's Word. God can't lie...neither does His Word-the two can't be separated. Many want to debate the Word as if it's open for modifications... God's Word will not change. Blessed are those who hear the Word of God & obey it! Believing God is a choice...not a feeling. Any person desiring to believe is given revelation by the Holy Spirit to do so-we can't believe on our own will. Choosing to believe gives access to the promises God makes to us. He says He's overcome this world-depriving it of the ability to harm us. When we believe, we partner with God's promises...this gives us access to the power He makes available through us. Walk in the freedom & peace God promises-don't ponder, debate & speculate ...you loose ground & become confused. Jesus is the way, truth & life...know His truth & be set free! God's promises are true, but you won't know for yourself unless you stand on them...yourself.  God never said things would be easy, but He promises to give you the desire & power to obey Him (Phil 2:13). Stand on His promises & embrace the overflowing hope He offers you daily (Heb 6:19). God's not a quitter...He won't quit on you. Raise your expectations...

Raise your expectations beyond what you can see or reason-you can't understand God's promises, you have to make a choice to believe them because He said so. Put your hope in His power...not your preconceived ideas & perception. The human mind can't comprehend how God will deliver His promises, but many don't want to be let down-so they lower their hope. God can't let you down because He keeps His promises! Don't confuse your timeline with His delivery time-but just so you know…His promises usually take the slow train. Your preconceived ideas will distort your clarity in seeing God's truth. The human mind can't comprehend the how, when, why, what & where God will do things. Those who believed & loved Jesus were distraught after His death...they had a preconceived idea of how God's promise would be fulfilled, "we hoped He was the One..." Jesus asked the disciples after His resurrection, "why are you troubled-why do doubts raise in your minds?" What preconceived ideas are keeping you from believing God will do what He promises? How you act while in a place you don't want to be determines how long you need to be there. God's not punishing you-He's preparing you in perseverance. God's hope...

God's hope...it gives me clarity when life is a blur-turning my darkness into light, it picks me up when grief knocks me down & soothes the ache in my heart for those I care for who won't care for themselves. When discouragement & doubt hurl insults & mock my efforts, God's hope rises us from within me with a fierce determination to overcome-reassuring me although I can't see a way...He's already made a way. God's hope covers me when the enemy rushes me with his stinking lies…giving me the guts to stand up for His Word & stand alone if I have to. When I'm depleted- God's hope fills me up...giving me the strength to advance against an army & leap over a wall. God's hope gives me contentment when His promises are taking the slow train-allowing me good sleep at night, stamina during the day & a peace that surpasses all understanding. His hope sustains me during the long & hard seasons & puts my feet on solid ground-God's hope is my source & purpose…I can do what He calls me to do because His hope gives me reason to! Being the person God planned you to be...

If you were to enjoy being the person God planned you to be…would your life look like it does now? Would you anticipate each day with God's new mercies & be able to release mistakes from the the former day? Would you rest in the truth that His love completes & approves all of you-even the parts you don't like? Would you carry out the desires God put in your heart without regard to what others might say? Would you speak up for what you believe in...feel less pressure to conform & not fear the disapproval of others? Would you be less judgmental of others, if you believed God was less judgmental of you? Would you hear Jesus whisper to you throughout the day that you've got what it takes-that He loved you before you were born? Would you laugh more, sleep better & grind your teeth less at night if...you enjoyed being the person God planned you to be? God chose you... you're not a mistake, an after thought or an ooops…you were chosen by God-you're a purposed part of His Kingdom plan, every second & step has been ordered. You have a unique fingerprint-it's your trademark & seal of approval that sets you apart to being the person God's you to be. No person can eliminate or take the spot God planned for you- other than you...you forfeit your place & plan when you opt out of believing God's truth. Every day you can ask Jesus to search your heart & see if there's anything in it that opposes God's Word-He will tell you, but when He does, you must decide if you will listen & take action. If you're not being the person God planned you to be…do you know why? If not, ask Jesus...He will tell you. It's time to break up with doubt...

It's time to break up with doubt…his agenda is to steal your dreams, lie about God's promises & torment your mind. He poses as being concerned, but he speaks in partial truths... omitting parts-so it's deception. He begins questioning the dreams God's put in your heart...are you sure you heard God correctly-you don't want to say something that's not true or make up things do you? Then he moves on to your understanding of scripture-yes, God promises good plans & gives the desires of your heart, but maybe you're wanting too much-maybe you're being selfish? Finally, he has you to examine your life as a whole-have you really made a difference, is God pleased with you, or have you used up your chances? Then He questions what you believe about your loved ones-those who reject Him? You've been praying for a long time-no changes in sight; actually they're worse. You resign to the fact, your situation is impossible...this is a partial truth because it is...but doubt omitted the other part remember, he deceives in this way. The complete truth is... with man this is impossible...but all things are possible with God! So yes, your situation is impossible for you but all things are possible with God (Mt 19:26). Write this scripture down-post it in several places where you can see it; then say it aloud throughout the day. It's a promise to whatever you're facing. Be on guard for the partial truths that doubt will place in your mind daily-he's a roaring line waiting to devour your mind of God's truth (1 Pet 5:8). Be ready for this attack, doubt uses the same tactic over & over-lies by omission deliberately leave out important parts of the truth to deceive you. Keep your mind on the truth-seek God first in all you do, He won't let you miss Him (Mt 6:33). Will you break up with doubt today? Jesus' Love is Big...

Jesus' Love is Big...bigger than anything you need to restore replace, or replenish, give back or take away. Bigger than anything you've done or are up against, need to let go of or go back to, stand up to or back down from, make peace with or move on from. Jesus' love gives hope to to the hopeless, life to the dead, rest to the weary, opens the eyes of the blind & lets the deaf hear, mends broken hearts, sets captives free, calms fear, increases faith, gives courage, finds the lost & gives purpose to pain...no darkness can overcome His Light, He's the way, the truth & the life, His Word is lamp to your feet a light to your path! Jesus' love doesn't exempt you from pain, but He promises He will walk with you & bring you through it. Jesus' Love is Big...will you receive it? Conform verses Transform...

Conform is to comply with the socially acceptable conventions-pressure to behave to standards. Transform is to make a thorough or dramatic change in form, appearance & character. Don't conform to the pattern of this world...but be transformed by the renewing of our mind. Renewing your mind isn't merely replacing negative thoughts with positive thoughts...it's replacing the lies of conformity with the truth of God's Word. Listen to what you're thinking on...are you allowing God's truth to transform you? What you think on determines your destiny. Does your talk & walk line up? If you profess the Word, but walk with the world-you will be messed up in your mind & not walk in the victory God promises. What do you really believe-what the world says or what God says?
