Hurt distorts how you see...
If you've ever been hurt by those who were suppose to love you...you will struggle with believing those who have chosen to love you. Hurt distorts how you see the world because pain obscures your view. Distortion has convinced you that you don't measure up so you try to prove you're worthy enough to be loved. Fear then comes & does a work in your mind-wanting you to believe your worth is determined by others approval of you...this is a lie; another person's approval has nothing to do with your value!

You're God's masterpiece- fearfully & wonderfully made (Eph 2:10, Ps139:14), He chose & loved you first (Jn 3:16) & you're an heir to the King (Rom 8:17). This is God's truth-it will never change nor is it open to debate or speculate. You must make a decision to believe you're loved, chosen & adopted (Eph 1:5, 1:11). Fear wants you to believe you're less than because someone didn't love you like they should have. You overcome this lie with God's truth-your identity is found in God's love & His love never lies or changes!

Until you have revelation of God's love, you will question if His love will fail you like human love did & you will push away those who truly do love you. Ask the Holy Spirit for help-He will give you revelation. Don't take the bait from fear, stand firm on God's truth-He won't forsake you (Deut 31:6). His love never fails or gives up on you (Ps 136:1). If someone didn't love you like they were suppose to-that doesn't make you unlovable that makes something wrong with them! Will you believe God & no longer let old hurt distort how you see? Where the Spirit of the Lord is...there is freedom-thank you Jesus! The Holy Spirit...your lifeline to living a stable life!

Be purposed in embracing humility daily-the recognition that you can't successfully manage day to day living apart from the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Seek His truth for guidance in every area of your life-go to Him for all big and small situations and everything in between! He will help you balance family, work, relationships, understand the desires of your heart, develop healthy friendships, choose an outfit for a party, have the right words to make a sincere apology, know which over the counter medicine to pick for a sick child, prompt you to call a friend just when they need encouragement, coordinate childcare and give you hope in a hopeless situation, etc. Don't ever minimize the gift of the Holy Spirit…He is your lifeline for living a stable life!

Be purposed in training your mind to ask the Holy Spirit throughout the day what He would say to you regarding the issue you're thinking on. This mental process keeps your mind submitted to His leading and prompting while keeping you tethered to His grace which gives you the ability to exceed your own ability in executing tasks of daily living. Praise God you are never alone and thank Jesus He went away so we would always have a Comforter, Counselor and Advocate! Getting saved gets you a new spirit...but not a new mind! You've got to renew your mind with God's Word every day of your life until you see Jesus face to face! "The words I speak to you are Spirit & life." Your mind must be renewed with Jesus...the way, truth & life!

Time with Jesus is your lifeline-to not have time to renew your mind is like saying you don't have time to breathe! Apart from Him your mind withers & becomes exhausted & depleted because of its finite ability. God's Word gives your mind the ability to exceed its own finite abilities... the insight to discern what otherwise would confound you & to believe & firmly stand on the promises of God even when all looks lost!

God knows everything about you & He's not surprised!

God knows everything about you & He's not surprised at all-there's nothing you're dealing with or need to overcome that's too much for God. Your worse mistake, biggest regret, most painful memory, unresolved issues, financial dilemma, mental or medical diagnosis or very unique situation-none of these things are too much for God! He can handle your situation-the question is...will you let Him?

Over the years in counseling sessions people have told me that they prayed, but God didn't answer. A closer look revealed they "prayed" a lot to God about how they wanted Him to handle their situation, but never trusted Him to take it. Until we release our situation, He can't help us.

God gives us the freedom to live life the way we want to, but when we do, we are responsible for managing our situations. Living life God's way promises His protection & provisions. He's planned every second of your life to include wrongs, mistakes & rebellion-He turns each one around for His glory for all who love Him. God's got it all worked out for you...will you trust Him to help you in your situation?
