A friend & I were caught in an unexpected storm last year at night. High winds began to shift the car back & forth, torrential rain obscured visibility, hail hit the windshield & car
with thuds & clunks
that were sure to leave huge dents; we were laughing one minute then
suddenly...everything changed. Immediately, we called on the name of
Jesus & thanked God for making a way-keeping us safe. He did not
remove us from the very frightening situation...but He was with us every
second. He held our right hand & said "fear not, I will help you"
(Isa 41:13). We were detoured, due to live power lines laying on the rd,
drove an unfamiliar route to get home, & inched along in the very
black night due to electric outages. To not allow our emotions to
overwhelm us, we stayed in prayer the entire way & reminded each
other how great He is-we spoke His Word & recalled His promises to
get through the sudden & unexpected storm. That's how the storms of
life hit us...suddenly & unexpectedly-a medical report, teacher
conference, pregnancy test, background check, rejection letter,
overdraft bank account, termination notice, no response email, betrayal of
loved one, friend was invited but you weren't, coach never called you,
etc. We immediately begin to pray, thanking God for His provisions,
speaking His language of faith-His Word. Ask the Holy Spirit for help to
find the comfort that is available to you; Col 1:4,9 says to lean our
entire human personality on Him- absolute trust & confidence in His
power & wisdom-being filled with a full, deep, clear knowledge-a
comprehensive insight. You do not have to go through your storm alone or
feel there is not way out, there is. Expect sudden storms to come on
you...also expect God to be w/you, deliver you, & never forsake you
(Heb 13:5).
